While having a riveting conversation over wings and beer about the benefits and distaste of ginger (Brooke’s cousin Billie despises the stuff) a drink was mentioned.  A drink of which none of us Kansas City folk had ever heard about, a Moscow Mule.  I guess they are quite popular in San imageDiego,  much to Billie’s dismay because one of the main ingredients is ginger beer.  We left the subject, but the drink whirled around in my mind well after the evening ended.

As coincidence would have it, I ran across a post at Angler’s Tonic with Moscow Mule as the featured Drink of the Week.  Like me, the Moscow Mule was new to Mr. Thomas.  However unlike me, he had the luxury of enjoying his first one at 8AM in a Montana bar, and continuing the Moscow Mule madness all weekend.  He keeps running into them everywhere, even on the Madison River.  He lives the life, let me tell you.  When I read that it had lime and mint, I was definitely sold.  Now, if I can just get my hands on some Cock ‘N Bull.  Now that I’ve sparked y’alls interest in this ginger concoction served in a copper mug (this is important), here is the recipe courtesy of Angler’s Tonic:

Moscow Mule
– 1 1/4 oz Smirnoff vodka
– 3 oz. Cock ‘N Bull
– 1 tsp. sugar syrup
– 1/4 oz. lime juice
– 1 sprig mint
– 1 slice lime
In a copper mug, pour vodka over ice. Add sugar syrup and lime juice. Top with Cock N’ Bull and stir. Garnish with mint sprig and lime slice.

Go check out Greg’s post on it, and his blog in general.  It is a must read for me every week.  As for me, you bet your bottom dollar I am trying one of these while in Montana.  Yep, that trip is just 21 days away!!!
