This past August, Dustin and I spent a week at Peffley’s Camp. I’ve already blogged about what a great week we had at camp, how top-notch the camp was, and how we couldn’t wait to go again. To put it simply, Peffley’s received 5 stars all the way around for us. Heck, we’ve even discussed our fishing plan of attack for the next visit.
Let me veer off into a quick biological digression; Natural selection has shown, see the Atlantic Silverside Research, that if big fish are taken from a habitat the size of the fish will subsequently decrease. No angler wants that, right? Something that I don’t think I mentioned about Peffley’s, which is equally awesome as everything else, is Peffley’s commitment to keeping the fishing great by practicing catch and release of the big ‘ens. Peffley’s talks about the practice of catch and release on the website, but they also back up their talk by offering a free trip to one person who practiced catch and release of fish over a specified size. Entry is simple, you write down the fish you caught and turn it in to Dave when you leave. Your name goes on the board, and you are entered to win the free week. Easy peasy process, and all the while promoting a good habit.
Imagine my surprise this morning when I get a call from Dave. He and I exchanged pleasantries and then he drops the bomb…I WON THE FREE TRIP!! WHOOP WHOOP! I’ve never even won a free scratcher ticket, so for me to win something like this is major. I couldn’t wait to tell Dustin, but he was in the treestand, naturally! As Dave said, telling him then would be hazardous as Dus might fall out of the tree. Ha. When I finally talked to him he was ecstatic too. My win makes the trip a lot cheaper for him since he’s the one footing the bill anyway 🙂 So much like last year, we’ll be counting down the days until we head to Peffley’s…
Thanks, Dave! I can’t wait to see you in August.
