Happy Holidays to all my fellow lovers of the outdoors (to everyone else as well). The last couple of days witnessed Dustin and myself gathering goodies for Christmas. It has been hard to get in the Christmas spirit, especially since our decorations consist of moving boxes. Moreover, Dustin and I gave up gifts this year, and our family opted to downscale as well. The economy has been tough on us all. Sorely missed this year is the excitement of buying for others. With that said, I still anticipate it to be a great Christmas. Some of my family is quite spread out, which means Christmas is the one time of the year we are sure to get quality time. This quality time I would not trade for all the gifts in the world.
For the gifts we did buy this year, we opted to ditch the wrappings. This was quite hard for me since I love to wrap gifts, but it makes the most ecological sense. Deciding I just could not give a gift with zero trimmings, I bought reusable tote bags to package the goods. Not only do the recipients get a fun gift on the inside, the wrapping is a gift that keeps on giving. So, if you are like me and can’t give an unwrapped gift, go this route. You save the wrapping paper, and save lots of plastic bags from the landfill. Win-win!
Fly Fish Addiction posted an inspiring post today, and I think it is worth a mention. The holidays are such a good time to give a little back, whether it be in monetary or time form. It really does feel good when you give a little 🙂
Dustin & I hope everyone enjoys all the wondrous things the holiday season brings.
