Unless you live under a rock, I am going to wager a guess and say that most anglers near or around Fort Collins know about the killer Fly Tying Expo going on next week, February 16th, but for those just coming out from under the rock, here’s an announcement!  Fort Collins’s Trout Unlimited Chapter, Rocky Mountain FlyCasters, is putting on a mega Fly Tying Expo, the biggest ever for the Chapter.  Moreover, the tiers comprise an all-star cast: “Rick Takahashi, Jason Haddix, and Dennis Martin from Angler’s Roost; Terry Gibson and Ted Meredith from Bob’s Fly Shop; Dave Coulson from Fish Explorer; Connor Murphy from Fossil Ridge High School Fly Fishing Club; Jake Ruthven from Elkhorn Rod & Reel; Caleb Van Wagner from Kirk’s Flyshop; Dick Shinton and Mike Kruise from Laughing Grizzly Fly Shop; Guy Turenne from Rocky Mountain Flycasters; Grant Houx and Jin Choi from St Peter’s Fly Shop; Jason Goodale from Montanya Fly Company; and Steve Schweitzer, Mark McMillan, Al Ritt, and Eric Ishiwata.”  In addition to these guys demonstrating their tying prowess, there will also be a raffle for all flies and a fly rod.  Oh yeah, they’ve also got a silent auction planned.

This event is only $20.00 and they feed you barbeque from Texas Roadhouse.  Doesn’t this sound like a great way to spend an evening?  The show starts at 5:30 and runs until 9:00.  The best part, your money is going to a great cause, Trout Unlimited.

Dustin will be there soaking up every bit of information he can; I’m lending him my voice recorder for the evening.  Unfortunately I will not be there; I have a Networking Dinner at CSU at 6:00pm.  Hopefully some potential summer job opporunities will come out of that.

I hope everyone plans on coming out and supporting our local Trout Unlimited!

I love sports and outdoor expos. I've never been to a fly-tying only expo but this looks like it would be fun. Now my Grandfather would have loved this expo.

I wish I could make it, sounds like a fun time and good learning opportunity. Give Dustin a camera as well so we can see some of the flies.

I told Dustin everyone is expecting a report, so he better put on his writing shoes! Circumstances changed, and I am going along too, so maybe I can help prompt ideas for writing.
